At Little River School, our calendar is full of rich, meaningful experiences that go beyond the classroom and reflect the heart of our rural community. These events create lasting memories, foster strong relationships, and give tamariki countless opportunities to grow in confidence and pride.
Throughout the year, students participate in a wide range of engaging activities, including:
• Athletics, cross country, and swimming sports that encourage healthy competition and personal achievement
• School camps and EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) experiences that make the most of our stunning natural environment
• Cultural celebrations, such as Matariki, Kapa Haka performances, and our biennial school production
• Pet Days and The School Garden, which honour our rural roots and provide tamariki with hands-on, nature-based learning experiences
• Student-led events like House Challenges, Milo Mondays, and activities organised by The School Council, which promote leadership, teamwork, and school pride
• Community events such as shared lunches, whānau picnics, working bees, and fundraising initiatives that bring our school community together
Each of these events gives our learners the chance to shine, make meaningful connections, and feel proud of who they are and where they come from. At Little River School, these experiences are not extras — they are an essential and valued part of the learning journey.
